Let Claude read and act on websites

Add Bowmark to Claude (claude.ai, Claude Desktop or Claude Code) and Claude can read and act on live websites through typed functions, signed in where you have an account. Free $10 to start.

Reading this with an agent?

This page as plain text: /docs/claude.md. A summarising fetch tool paraphrases long pages, so for code to copy exactly, fetch it raw: curl -s https://bowmark.ai/docs/claude.md. The whole site as one file: https://bowmark.ai/llms-full.txt. Index of every page: https://bowmark.ai/llms.txt.

Claude cannot reliably use most websites on its own. Add Bowmark as a connector and Claude gets two calls: get_library finds the typed functions for a site or a task, and run runs a short script against them on the live site and hands back structured results. Both are MCP tools that Claude calls through the connector: get_library is an MCP tool, not a function you can use inside a script.

claude.ai

  1. Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Bowmark and paste:
https://api.bowmark.ai/mcp/claude-connector
  1. Click Connect and sign in.

No API key: the Claude app signs in for you.

Claude Desktop

Download bowmark.mcpb and double-click it.

Claude Code

The plugin adds the MCP server and the Bowmark skill in one step:

claude plugin marketplace add bowmark-ai/plugin
claude plugin install bowmark@bowmark-ai

Or add the MCP server on its own with an API key from dashboard/keys:

claude mcp add bowmark --transport http https://api.bowmark.ai/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $BOWMARK_API_KEY"

Make Claude use it first

In the Claude app, open Settings → General → "What personal preferences should Claude consider in responses?" and paste:

When a task needs a live website (prices, stock, tickets, bookings, search results, a form), use the Bowmark connector first: call get_library with the site's name, then run what fits. Only open a browser if Bowmark has nothing for that site.

Without it, Claude tends to try each site itself and ask permission site by site. In Claude Code, put the same line in CLAUDE.md (full rules text).

Which sites

Ask Claude "what can Bowmark do on <site>?" and it calls get_library for that site. The full list of covered sites and their functions is on Providers. Each one is tested on a schedule.

Cost

Your first $10 of usage is free, no card needed. Add a card at dashboard/billing to go past it (Pricing).

FAQ

Can Claude log in to sites for me? Yes, where a site has a typed provider with a login(). You store the login once and Claude never sees the password (how stored logins work).

Does Claude need to drive a browser for this? No. Claude calls Bowmark's functions and gets typed results back.

What if a site is not covered? Claude can call report with the site and what you wanted (report is an MCP tool only). That request goes to the Bowmark team.

The same connector works in ChatGPT, Cursor, Codex and any MCP host: see Installation.
